Anna Salmi - violin
Anna Salmi was born in Hyvinkää,
Finland. She started her
musical studies at the Hyvinkää Music School at the age of 6.
In September 2000 Anna moved to London to continue her
studies at the Trinity College of Music where she learned
with John Crawford and Gillian Findlay. Whilst studying at
TCM, Anna participated in various masterclasses with The
Belcea, Vellinger and Wihan Quartets, as well as having
regular coaching sessions with Nona Liddell, David Kenedy
and Michael Bochmann. She led the TCM Contemporary
Music Ensemble.
Anna
recently finished her Masters Degree at the Royal
Academy of Music (London), studying violin with OBE
Erich Gruenberg and viola with Yuko Inoue. While a student
at the Academy, she participated in masterclasses with
Thomas Brandis, Zvi Zeitlin, and Alexander Pavlovic.
In autumn 2001 Anna played three concerts as a kantele
soloist for the London
Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal
Festival Hall, London. In spring 2004 she performed to the
President of Finland and Princess Alexandra in a reception
at the Dorchester Hotel in Park Lane, London. In April 2004,
Anna gave a pre-concert recital with her violin duo “The
Riverside Fiddlers” at the Royal Festival Hall, as a part of the
Philharmonia Orchestra’s Finnish
Concert Series.
